Overlooking the village and the vineyard, the church of Hunawihr and its fortified cemetery have preserved an intact environment highlighting this exceptional ensemble classified as a Historic Monument. The village owes its morphology to its wine-growing activity, in particular to its gabled winegrowers' houses, built for the most part from the 16th to the 18th century. The houses, whose masonry ground floor was occupied by cellars, have a floor, often in half-timbered form, which houses the accommodation. This landscape and architectural heritage is worth to Hunawihr to be part of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France".
